Off Globe Trotting

Karina and I are off to London and Paris on Wednesday. We're both pretty much squealing from anticipation and delight. The group we will be traveling with has a full schedule for the week long stay.

Maybe Karina will one day blog when we return.

Trimalchio

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite novels, cemented after watching the movie with Robert Redford, Sam Waterston, and Mia Farrow. The 1920's is one of my favorite periods because it seems so fantastical, fairytale-esque even, with quite an abrupt ending no one was prepared for.

Beat the Heat

Looking for some new summer clothes. The heat is coming, despite this crazy rain and thunder, and I 'm not looking forward to wearing jeans and tees everyday.

The postal short and high waisted side zipper shorts from American Apparel, striped shorts from Gap. I think I own only one pair of shorts besides my ultra-stylish p.e. uniform.

Forever 21 dresses. I love the coral tones in all of them, whether very vibrant, as in the last satin one, or muted, in the third which reminds me of "Blossom".

In other news, I wish I had a car so I could pop over to Claremont to check out Barbara Cheatley's and grab a hummus and avocado sandwich from the Juice Co.

NEXUS-6 N6FAB21416

My English class finished watching Blade Runner a few weeks ago, just after I had gotten my April issue of NYLON in which they had an article about inhuman seductresses featuring Leeloo from The Fifth Element and Sil in Species.

Pris was another character and I absolutely love her pale, innocent look she rocked with a new wave-punk attitude.

I totally need some mesh to work with.

Spring Broke

Our week of freedom has come to an end.

Monday, April 06, 2009

I meant to post this two weeks ago before my computer commited seppuku.

My birthday was a while ago and Karina made me the cutest cake I've ever seen!
It's an adorable bowl of milk with cheerios and a spoon sticking out of it.

I'm known as the cake maker in my group for all the colorful creations I've baked for them, but this is somthing I don't think I would have thought of.

She even risked school policy and brought candles for me to blow out at lunch.

Sadie Hawkins

Friday evening our school held a rave themed dance for Sadie's. It was great; everyone was dressed fabulously, the music was sick and we got down.
People went all out for this dance. Colored jeans were prevelent, as were combos of yellow and turquoise. Some crazy cool accessories: these strange gloves with lit finger tips were pretty neat.

Karina and her date Sam.
I loved the shirts, dia de los muertos inspired. I think I'm going to borrow it sometime. Or maybe a more subtle DIY like this from Hand It Over.

My boyfriend and me after the dance. (before pictures might have been a good choice)
I decided to do a black and white theme since the blacklights would catch those items and then do an inverse outfit, rather than be dressed the same. Then for a little color we added bandanas in our respective colors: red for him and I am blue.

Oh, and can't forget the various glow accessories.

Picnic in the Park

This afternoon we all ventured to the dam for a barbeque. This time all the mebers of the SMC made it and it was loads of fun. It was a really good day; just the weekend before we went and the weather was quite as desirable.

Milk likes playgrounds.

Cheerios likes chips.

Cheerios made this awesome jalapeno mac n cheese creation that Millk pretty much devored on her own. It was awsome. Milk went on a walk and got into terrible trouble at another playground while Cheerios danced to oldies-but-goodies.

Milk is so much better than Cheerios.
Cheerios doesn't even need Milk.
